Technical audit of Bait tutorial
In this lesson we were given a short tutorial of how to use the programme ' Bait' in the media suite. The programme will be used for editing our final thriller film opening and the tutorial has given us a preview of the what to expect when editting the film.
We were asked to experiment on several ready-made clips and to create our own film sequence which did not jump but run smoothly and made sense. We were shown that the two windows showing the film were completely different; the one the left was the film in which we could cut and edit; whilst the one of the left was demonstrating our final piece where we could preview what we had done so far. There was also a timeline underneath the windows which allowed us to see the times of how long each clip was and place them accordingly.
Skills which I found useful were the 'input' and 'output' method. This allowed us to choose which sections of the clip that we wanted to include in our timeline. We did this by pressing the key 'I', when it was the start of what we wanted to include, and 'O' when the last bit of what we wanted to include in our film finished. Then, having selected the key moment, we could drag it onto our timeline and preview our selected clip. I found this useful as it allowed me to get rid of any unnessary or unwanted parts within the clip and allowed the clips, altogether, run smoothly. I also found the 'razor tool' very useful. The tool allowed us to cut a certain clip in half so that we could then slip in another clip between the two halves. This meant that where the clip would cut, another would then continue and then when finished, resume where it had left off. This was very effective when the man reached out to grab the sandwich and the razor tool was used to include a close up of his hand picking up the sandwich then resumed to a mid-shot of him picking up the sandwich.
I feel that this tutorial has prepared me when editting my film as now I have experience what it will be like when editting my film. I also ran through a couple of difficulties whilst editing my practice-flm which has allowed me to understand where i went wrong inorder for me not to do the same on the real film.
