EVALUATION - task 6

In this project I had to use many new technologies and be able to use each with eachother. I used websites such as 'google' and 'youtube' to research previous thriller openings made by past As media students. I also used those sites to research ideas and themes of what a thriller film should be.

This website was used to get screengrabs from other thriller films which have been out in cinema. This was used in my blogs where I described the different conventions used in each screen grab and in my blogs where I compared nine of my screen grabs to 9 from a real thriller movie.

I used the JVC cameras to film our media product. They took a memory card which could then download all our filming on our video drive and transfer it to our apple mac. This made it safer for us to keep our work as it avoided all the hassle of other people stealing/loosing our work as it was on our own personal group video drive.

We also attached a light to the camera - this made the shots look much brighter. Another attachment which we made onto the camera was the microphone. This was because in our movie we had a short scene where the characters phone rings and she answers it. This was a crucial part of the film and could not be missed. Therefore the microphone allowed all the sound to come through clearly and loudly.

Final cut was the programme which we used to edit our film. However, there were other progrmames that inter-linked with Final Cut. We used SoundTrack Pro. to create our soundtrack; our movie could be imported to soundtrack pro so that we knew what pieces of music suited what parts of our film; we then could import our final soundtrack to final cut so that the movie played independly with it's soundtrack. Although we did not use 'LiveType' we were initially, this programme helped to create the titles which could then be imported onto Final Cut and placed whereever on the screen (unless it had a background).

We took many pictures with a camera borrowed from the school; on shoot photos and location shots. Instead of uploading them as images on to my blog, I used final cut pro to create an animation. This was used with our story board aswell to create an animatic storyboard. To create this we simply imported the images on to final cut and dragged them in the order we wished on the timeline. I used the same method to create the ainmation for my evaluation answer to task 5. However, with this task I decided to add a voiceover to describe the audience which I intend on viewing my movie. I used a voice recorder, which took memory card, to record my voice and then uploaded the clips on to my videodrive. After, I imported the clip onto final cut and dragged it down on to my timeline with the matching images.

By using Final Cut i learnt how to convert films and music into 'Quicktime' conversions to be able to download on to my blog. This was done by 'File' and 'Export using Quicktime conversion'. I then had to change the size to '320' (as it is the size blogger prefers) and save it. This made uploading on blogger much quicker and easier. It also showed how I could mix technologies to create interesting and interactive blogs.

I found that all the technologies in this project were very useful. The cameras were one of the most important (with out which no filming could be made), Final cut made it possible to edit and the voice recorder created an alternative from writing to put on to my blog.
