Skills Audit: creation of soundtrack
I felt that creating a soundtrack that matched our film was most difficult. We had to listen to many different backbeats and rhythms until we came to the conclusion that a simple backbeat wouldn't be enough. This is why we decided to include a voice over as well as a soundtrack. The voice over was of various poems in which we found on google about secrets .This worked as it told the consequences of keeping secrets which was what our film was about. Also, the deep voice (Mica) created an eerie atmosphere as the audience did not know who it belonged to and where it had come from. The voiceover provided a narration for the audience so that they followed the film better and were able to understand the blackmailers intentions.
The soundtrack used along with the voiceover was called 'Awareness'. We did not use the whole track as there was a bit during the end which sounded 'western' and would be better suited for a cowboy themed film, therefore we cut the ending and looped the track so that it continued smoothly. We also added 'Bass Isolation' and 'Texture and Ambience 007'to which sounded like someone murmuring something which is reminiscent of someone telling secrets to someone in their ear - which we took from our original preliminary task.
Our audience feedback showed that the voiceover was another highlight of our film which gave it character and originality.
