The video above shows a clip from our preliminary exercise and a clip from our film our final film 'Pen friends'. The video above demonstrates the development in our editing skills. The match cut in our preliminary activity was not fluid and precise enough whereas in our film pen friends our slick editing allowed our film to flow.
It is evident that the first film was edited by amatures and people who did not have much experience with final cut pro software. our 'match cut' was very basic and it did not link together very well, we did not have sufficient amount of clips to create a sucsesfull match cut. This exercise made us realize the importance of having a variety of shots. When filming our final film 'pen friends' we made sure we took a variety of shots from different angles so we were able to have more freedom when doing the match-cuts so we were able to create more interesting match cuts.
We also paid more attention to the quality of our shots, we made sure all of our shots were in focus. When we were doing our match cut we had some shots that was not in focus therefore we was not able to use them. We also used a 'boom' which made our sound quality a lot better. Although we did not have a lot of dialogue in our films but the sound quality in 'starr nine' was not good and i think it affected the quality of the film.
Our organisation skills improved drastically from the production of 'starr nine' and 'pen friends'. We used our time more productively which allowed us to finish our filming on time. We planned when we were going to film and edit out film so we were more efficient with the production of our film.
